The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea
by Yukio Mishima
Yukio Mishima's writing is very impressive and lyrical. His prose made it engaging for me to read this book even though it had disturbing elements in it. It's so dark, evocative and disturbing at the same time. I was mesmerized when I had finished reading the book. I didn't understand the reasoning of certain characters in the story, so I'm not sure if I missed the essence of it. Reading some of the top reviews gave me some insight into what this book really represents. I'm thoroughly enthralled.
Love Japanese literature. Everything is a miniscule character study in their stories even though the plot remains fairly simple.
