I really enjoyed the worldbuilding and would have loved to see more, but the book is incredibly focused on the interior lives and relationship of the protagonists. In fact, this is a rare case where the plot happen not because of, but in spite of the actions or because of the inaction of the protagonists, which I found baffling. I enjoy romance and taking care of each other a lot, but these two were always doing it when they really should have been following up on some lead or other. Aside from that it's an entertaining read with good characters, although I thought the necromancer was overloaded with issues.
