Sad Janet by Lucie Britsch
5.0

I don't know much about Lucie Britsch but I feel like we'd get on like a house on fire (and by that I mean meet once or twice a year and have a great time but keep it casual). I loved this book. And I almost didn't get into it at first, I felt like the narrator was just blabbering in my ear at first, but then I got used to the constant narration.

It's funny that I picked it up at this moment without realizing that Christmas was such a central theme in the story. Brutally honest, fresh, with a touch of Miranda July about it, it's the story of Janet, who is sad and pressured by society to stop beign so sad and just take some pills already! This is hilarious but also made me question things and wonder. Perhaps only people with mental health challenges will find this as great as I did, but hey at least we get some tailored literature for us, can't be all bad.
