I was very excited to read this book as I've really enjoyed the author's previous works. It definitely lived up to my expectations with regard to the beautiful prose and complex, well-defined characters. I almost wish this were a duology so that we could spend more time with Vina and Simran to explore more of the characters' interactions, but the pacing and length did feel appropriate for the story that was being told. I also really enjoyed the fairytale setting, although I think I'd have preferred it to be completely a fantasy world, rather than being a magical version of Britain. The mentions of London took me out of the story on occasion because so little else felt "real world" about it. Overall, though, it was a beautiful tale of what lovers might be willing to do to change their fates, and to carve out a place in a world that believes it has already decided where they belong.
