Kindred really hit me. It’s a wild “what if” story about time travel, but what makes it stick is how real it feels. Butler’s writing is so good, and some lines like “I never realized how easily people could be trained to accept slavery” just stop you cold. It’s heartbreaking because so much of the fiction of course isn’t really fiction. Complex, emotional and a hard read but totally worth reading.
