The Heart in Winter
by Kevin Barry
An interesting take on a Western romance! I really enjoyed the writing style, it blended thoughts, dialogue and narration in a way that felt really dynamic and vivid. The plot itself was slightly surreal at times but I enjoyed the twists and turns it took. The character development was great, I went from being almost disparaging of Tom Rourke to really rooting for him at the end. The book just felt very real and raw to me. It was very different to most of the books I read and felt like a refreshing change! I also loved the ending it felt like a fitting conclusion.
