Too Late by Colleen Hoover
3.0

Well, this was definitely different from Hoover's other books. I must say, I did enjoy the story overall, though much of it was hard to enjoy. It was hard to read. There were many gruesome parts that made me take a break, a breath, and bitch slap some character mentally. I hated some of the characters. I hated the lives that some of them had, because they did not deserve it. I did not think that Sloan deserved her life, though she did some things she should not have said or thought either. I assume this is all due to her childhood, her cards dealt, etc. But nevertheless, she did it. Colleen Hoover made me feel things. Lots of things. I rate it at a 3 because of the shortness (thought it could have been more thought-out, descriptive, and longer), the disturbing bits that made me quite uncomfortable (and I must say I like feeling uncomfortable while reading, but I did not expect the level of absurdity that occurred with a particular (psycho) character), and because overall my level of interest and engagement in this story was low compared to her others. Don't get me wrong, it is a good story. Just not a great story. Anyway, I love her other books so if you are reading this thinking she is a bad writer of something you are wrong. SHE IS PERFECT. I just didn't like this story as much, but I still liked it. And it had nothing to do with her writing style, just to do with the subject matter of this story.
