This is a thoughtful argument that all religions aren't simply "different paths up the same mountain," but entirely unique structures aiming at different goals. Prothero's God Is Not One may be thick, but it is a thorough and unpartisan description of the eight major world religions, covering Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, the Yoruba Religion, and a surprise ninth CODA on Atheism.

Prothero has also separated each religion into it's own chapter, so if the book seems too unwieldy, one can easily pick through to what may be the most interesting.
