Reaper's Stand by Joanna Wylde
4.0
I've been putting off reading this book because I didn't really feel like reading Picnic's story which, now that I've finally read it, seems ridiculous because it was fabulous. Joanna never disappoints!
REAPER'S STAND was a bit different than her other books because the main characters are both older than usual, which was a nice change. I didn't really have any feelings towards Reese (Picnic) before this book, to be honest, I always pictured him as an old guy, not as a forty-three year old sexy biker. And sexy he was!I loved his character, he was a mean bastard for the most part but, come on, would you expect anything else from the President of the Reapers?! He did piss me off at times, but I got over it and you will too. Don't you worry. Reese is a biker through and through, he lost his old lady 6 years before and he doesn't want another one. I was a bit disgusted by him, I admit it. But...like I said, it fitted him and I think the book wouldn't have been as good if Joanna had softened his character. Though, I didn't really approve of certain things he did, especially when he learned of London's betrayal. But, once again, it's him, it's his personality, his way of life and I did get over it.
London was a great character as well, some people didn't like her because of the bad choices she made and I get that. I was disappointed with her at some point but I did get where she was coming from. I am not going to write any spoilers but if you've read the book, you understand. I was not happy with what she did because I thought it was just plain stupid and some of her reactions were ridiculous but, again, I kind of get her and she still was a good, loyal, funny character.
I loved them together, I think they worked great as a couple even though it went a bit too fast for me, like I didn't really feel their love/connection which bothered me a little but, as long as they have their happy ending, I'm happy. There were not a lot of sex scenes but the ones who were there were scorching hot and I...Loved...It!!! Gimme more.
The story was great, as usual with Ms. Wylde. She writes the best MC's books. I'll never get tired of reading them. To be honest, some things were a bit over the top and I did roll my eyes a few times (gasp!) but overall the story was really good. It's always very intense with Joanna Wylde, a bit dark and gritty (this one more than usual) but not too much and I love that. I also adore how she incorporates other characters' stories without losing focus on the main couple and their story.
Because now, having finished this book, I cannot wait to read Puck's book and...Painter...oh dear lord! I'm so excited for Painter's story!!!I loved the secondary characters as well, as you may have guessed, I absolutely loved Painter and I just can't wait to read his book. Puck's too. It was so good to read about the other couples from the previous books, put a big smile of my face. The only character I really did not like (apart from the big bad guys) was London's cousin's daughter, Jessica. Even if she kinda had an excuse because of her illness, she was still a little brat who, basically, got everyone in the story in big trouble.
REAPER'S STAND was another big yes from me, this series is definitely one of my favorite series ever and if you have not read it, you better start!
