It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover

Did not finish book.

I have little problems with the writing itself because it certainly elicited emotion from me. This likely won't be my only Hoover book because I have at least one more recommended that I wanted to check out. That said, I thought about whether to barrel onward with this story, and honestly, I just couldn't.

My issue is mostly that this was largely described as a romance but really dark and makes you feeeeeel and thiiiiink things. What I really needed to be told from the very beginning were the trigger warnings in this book. Y'all. Y'ALL. This is NOT a romance. Not really. Not one that makes you feel all warm and bubbly and makes your romantic insides swell with hope and believe in love all over again. I already delve into non-fiction accounts of domestic abuse and abuse/rape in general that I'd prefer NOT to be reading it as a main plot point in fiction. It's ROUGH CONTENT, and my preference as a fiction reader is to steer clear.

Frankly, if this had been a fantasy, Lily would have already burned Mr. Abuser into ash with her newly-developed firebending magic. But alas.

Anyway, I can't justify rating this since I couldn't finish it, but just needed to throw my thoughts out there to remind me of why.
