I haven't read sci-fi in a long time but I enjoyed this a fair amount. It's thought out enough not to jarr you with obvious logical errors but not so overwhelming with math and science or complex topics (looking at you 3body).

I enjoyed the story quite a bit initially but I was quite disappointed with the end of the book. About the 70% mark I lost patience for Holden and his boy scout, holier-than-though attitude. I don't appreciate that type of character personally so it bothered me for a while. I found him to be a weak and uncompelling protagonist.

However I loved the politics between the planets and the social context. I think that was handled exceptionally.
The authors note in the interview that they tried to strike a balance between the near and far future and I think they did a great job, it feels expansive but still relatable and (almost entirely) human.

I think from the ending of the events on Thoth station I started looking forward for the book to end. I wasn't satisfied with the direction it took but I'm not a writer and I won't assume I could've done a better job.
