Before She Knew Him
by Peter Swanson
I found this to be such a captivating thriller. The description was enough to get me hooked: Hen and her husband Lloyd go over to their new neighbor's house for dinner one night when she finds a trophy on his mantle that she's convinced matches the one that was missing from a murder victim's home two years ago.
Hen had become obsessed with the murder case, and though she had put it behind her after starting a new treatment for her bipolar disorder, seeing the trophy brings it all back - and Hen becomes convinced her new neighbor is the killer.
With twist after twist, I stopped even making predictions halfway through, realizing it wasn't going to be a cookie-cutter ending for a thriller. I'm pleased to say I was right, and the ending truly did not disappoint.
This was so well written; the characters were fleshed out and avoided the typical tropes assigned to those roles in many other thrillers. I definitely recommend this one if you're looking for something twisty (but smart!) to get sucked into!
