5+ JERK WORTHY CROWNS
OMG!!! Max Monroe what are you doing to me?? This book. It was everything I didn’t know I needed. It was fun and sweet, and I fell hard. I fell for the Jerk. I fell for Lucky. I fell HARD for this breath of fresh air romance. It is every single thing I needed.
Lucky is such a great heroine because readers will see themselves in her. Telling this story as a podcast allows readers to really connect with her. We live her story, and fall in love with Ollie along with her. We learn through introspective story and her letters. We see a woman who is looking for love, meeting the wrong guys, and maybe finally starting to realized like life, love isn’t so clear cut, so black and white.
Ollie, like most Max Monroe heroes, has an irresistible charm. Readers will be swept away by this man’a compassion. His looks don’t hurt (seriously, check that cover out), but he is so much more than that. Does Ollie make mistakes? Sure, but so does Lucky. I know that I’m excited to get his side of the story.
One of the reasons I’m ENAMORED with this story is the way these authors chose to tell it. A FRAME STORY. Seriously?? Max Monroe. My English heart adores everything about this choice. I’ve NEVER read an romance novel that was utilized this literary device. It is brilliant. It connected me with the characters. It forces me to live their story, to feel their evolution from friendly antagonists to more and to have my heart shatter with the fall. It left me dying for Ollie’s podcast. I need them to get their HEA, like I need air.
This story is 100% PHENOMENAL. It isn’t Uber sexy. It isn’t filled with hot alphas and sassy heroines. It’s real and reflective and sweet and fun. It is filled with characters who are relatable and love-able. It is a story that stands on merit alone. I didn’t need all the aforementioned things. Lucky and Ollie are enough on their own. This story is a must read.
