The Case for Temptation by Robyn Grady

3.0

This is the first book I am reading by [a:Robyn Grady|1364395|Robyn Grady|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1271693157p2/1364395.jpg]. Before this I have read a novella by her on Harlequin Online Reads - The Medici's Pregnant Mistress. The Case for Temptation is Book One of About That Night... Series, the last one in the Hunter Siblings Saga (The Hunter Pact Series).

Jacob Stone is a lawyer who is in Los Angeles to attend the lavish wedding of an old friend. While there, he comes across a woman named Teagan, and within three hours of knowing each other, they have a one-night stand. Before she came in his radar, his mind was stuck on the multimillion-dollar lawsuit waiting for his attention back in New York. The defamation case against Hunter Publications.

Teagan is the wild child of her family who owns a business separate from theirs in Seattle called High Tea Gym. Youngest sibling to her three older brothers, with Wynn marrying Grace recently (from [b:One Night, Second Chance|18467946|One Night, Second Chance|Robyn Grady|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1386001089l/18467946._SY75_.jpg|26127592]) and them being so much in love, Teagan is positive that it is not something that her future holds. In fact, Jacob was not even her type. But thinking about the recent attacks on her family, she decides it was time to go back to Australia to stand by them.

But, they both needed an escape, which they found in each other's arms.

This is such an emotional story from the get-go. Teagan had an accident when she was a child, which still has repercussions on her life. But a night with Jacob puts things into perspective for her especially after the loss she suffered a few months back. While Jacob has his own 'beyond toxic' childhood demons. There was no outright drama, but the silent sarcastic digs at each other were something else.

A week later, Jacob's calling her but she's avoiding him. Ouch! But then they're at Jacob's adoptive family's place where his step-sister gives her the snob. With the Hunter siblings, all done with, I would guess that this series will continue with The Rawsons siblings - Ajax, Griff, and Lanie.

Susan Copeland and Hux Rawson, hmm. I love when there is the whole family involved while building up the relationship. I have read books based in Australia before but this had an entirely different vibe to it. Maybe because they didn't have celebrations of Christmas in the month of July, or underwater smooching, for that matter, which is a first for me in HPland.

The story moves back and forth between Seattle, New York and Sydney. There are so much of other things going on instead of more focus on Jacob and Teagan. And Tea seemed to be getting the thin end of the stick in every sphere of her life. Also, they're more time apart than they're together. All in all, it didn't work for me.

We were always somehow out of sync.
Likewise, the book also seemed out of sync and there's no epilogue.

The next story in the series is [b:One Night with His Rival|48844501|One Night with His Rival (About That Night...)|Robyn Grady|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1574009161l/48844501._SY75_.jpg|74226296] by Robyn Grady.

P.S. Five stars for the tempting title and the awesomesauce cover.

Thank you to the author, Xpress Book Tours, Harlequin Publishers, and NetGalley for an e-ARC of the book.
