The Beach House by Jane Green

3.0

First of all, the narration of the audiobook by Cassandra Campbell is 5 stars all the way. She does a fantastic job of changing her voice to fit each character and their thoughts.
th
The book, however...
The beginning of this book was a total bore for me. The way it jumps around from character to character confused me and we never really spend enough time with each one to actually feel a connection.
Then we get to the part where they all convene at the beach house and things begin to get ineteresting. It's either that or that so many pages have gone by that you are now emotionally invested enough to care what happens.
A nice, little plot bomb gets thrown in towards the end that made the last 3 hours a pleasant listen as all the plot points get woven into a nice tapestry of new beginnings.
In the end, I got so caught up in the characters' lives that it saved the book despite the abysmal beginning. It's not something I would recommend, but it is a fantastic example of character building.
