Wow. Just wow. This book blew the first two out of the water. It took all of the foundations built in Empire of Silence and Howling Dark and built something beautiful and brutal. So many events happened in this book, but they were strung together so seamlessly. The prose is as beautiful as ever, and the action sequences were spectacular.

The Colosso fight nearly had me screaming "Halfmortal!" with the crowd. The ending had me in tears, partly from awe and partly from grief. We see the fanaticism around Hadrian reach the point of no return and his triumph in the end comes at great sacrifice.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Samuel Roukin, who I very much enjoy, though he kept pronouncing names like "Siran" and "Selene" differently throughout the book, which I found a bit annoying. Even still, this book is amazing and I was on the edge of my seat listening to it. I'm so excited to continue in the series.
