This book was recommended to me when I asked for fantasy recs, and I really made an honest effort to get through it, but I was bored to tears after the first chapter, which was weird because the first chapter was awesome. But the narrative becomes disjointed and confusing after that. As someone else put it, the bulk of this plot consists of men standing around in meeting rooms and talking about things that don't make sense. There's very little action. There's a ton of implied action, but we don't get to experience it. All we get is the characters' responses to the action the reader never sees in meeting after meeting after meeting. According to Kindle I made it 25% of the way through before giving up. Sorry. I did try.
