Arrogant Heir by Michelle Heard

5.0

Arrogant Heir is the story of Mila West and Jase Reyes. It is about how they get back on their feet, together, after an incident leaves them devastated.

Trigger Warning: Sexual Assault

Synopsis:
Eighteen-year-old Mila has been in love with Jase for about three years now. Once rejected, twice pissed, she doesn't give in to Jase's flirting anymore, thinking of him as the playboy who will only break her heart one day.

Twenty-two-year-old Jase gets a kick out of teasing Mila, but he has also begun to notice her since the last month when she decided to join Trinity Academy, where this close set of sixteen friends, and before them, their parents, got their education from.

But, something happens that leaves them at a strange place. So near, yet so far. Will they be able to overcome their situation and express their feelings for each other?

Review:
After the release of [b:Coldhearted Heir|51887064|Coldhearted Heir (The Heirs, #1)|Michelle Heard|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1594819229l/51887064._SY75_.jpg|73462996] back in August 2020, The Heirs Series of next four books have been lined up for release every two weeks, starting with Arrogant Heir. I mean, how cool is that!

The spark between Mila and Jase was there in the first book itself, evident to everyone, even if Jase wouldn't be upfront about it. After Jade Daniels and Hunter Chargill got a happy ever after in Book One, the time has now come for Jase and Mila's story.

Arrogant Heir starts from when Mila was fifteen and Jase was a nineteen-year-old. And then, Mila had decided to confess her feelings for Jase. Later on, in the present, with all of them now grown-up and attending Trinity Academy, it was really amusing to see Jase grappling with his newly discovered feelings for Mila, especially since she was so sure of her feelings for a few years now.

It was really sad that before Jase could confess his feelings for Mila, she had to go through such trauma. [a:Michelle Heard|18108320|Michelle Heard|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1581582191p2/18108320.jpg] handled the matter very well, with the utmost care and patience. She related it to something that happened in one of her previous book, Julian, which is Book Four of her Trinity Academy Series.

I still can't wrap my head around, I mean how freaking awesome is that that there are books about the younger generation. It warms my heart to read the close bond that these families and group of friends share! It all started in the Enemies to Lovers Series and continued with the Trinity Academy Series and now it is The Heirs Series. I can't wait to read all of them now.

Jase is such a tease but when needed he stands up and shoulders all the responsibilities. And he is so caring towards Mila. To have gone through such a vicious trauma and survived, Mila is so brave and strong. I loved how their relationship was portrayed in this book. And towards the end, their growing love for each other was so hot to witness.

The title of the story may well be misleading because Jase might be arrogant but he is such a big softie.

Next in line are Kao and Fallon in [b:Defiant Heir|51887099|Defiant Heir (The Heirs, #3)|Michelle Heard|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1603647407l/51887099._SY75_.jpg|73462997].

P.S. I didn't think much about this in the first book, but in the series, the author seems to have made it a trend of twisting famous nursery rhymes to fit her protagonists' narrative. It's funny and cute.

P.P.S. My reviews of the books in the series is as follows:
Coldhearted Heir | Arrogant Heir | Defiant Heir

Thank you to Candi Kane PR for an e-ARC of the book.
