Prophet of Bones by Ted Kosmatka

5.0

This is one weird little alternate history. Although there are a LOT of loose ends that aren't tied up at the end, the initial premise is so unusual that it's worth reading: scientists have proven that the age of the earth is 5800 years, and that radio-carbon dating and such support that, as well as genetics. (Or have they??? There is more than one way to read their science.) Anyway, a fossil dig on the island of Flores has exposed bones of "hobbits" that may overthrow everything they think they know about the non-evolution of the human race. Neat touch: the bibliography at the end of all the "journal articles" cited in the book.
