I almost gave this four stars, knocking off one for the fact that while I recognize that Joe is supposed to speak crass to let us know he is deranged, there were definitely some moments that felt a little forced with that language and it wasn’t necessary. But frankly, I read this in almost one sitting, and I haven’t done that with a novel in some time. It was enticing and I kept wanting to see what was next, so props for that must be given. I’m interested to see what the next two novels are like, though reviews on here seem to point to the quality diminishing with each subsequent entry in this series. Still, a fun way to waste a day.
