Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams
by Matthew Walker
Incredibly Important and Well Researched
I am often skeptical of health related books, especially those claiming to have some kind of magic bullet that cures all. However this book has not disappointed. Matthew Walker is a true scholar of sleep science. Nearly every claim he makes he backs up by describing the study that was done to support it in plain easy to understand language. As someone who doesn’t always get enough sleep and someone who sometimes feels guilty or lazy for sleeping too much, I can honestly say that this book disavowed me of any notion that sleep is not extremely valuable. Habits are hard to change but I will be placing my quality and quantity of sleep much higher on my priority list after reading this book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who routinely gets less than 7-9 hours of sleep each night or anyone who wants to understand why sleep is so important to every aspect of our lives.
