The History of Rasselas, Prince of Abissinia by J.P. Hardy, Samuel Johnson

1.0

Novels in the 18th Century began the genre, and I am thankful that they did. However, I do not like them for themselves.
Rasselas is episodic, and at the end of every episode nothing is achieved. They talk to many people so that they can make the choice of life, aka what life path will give them happiness, and what do they learn? That no one is happy. The last chapter literally says "The conclusion in which nothing is concluded" and then they go home.
