The Stardust Thief by Chelsea Abdullah
4.0
This book is steeped with Middle Eastern environment, traditions, and culture, and I loved every second of it. That seems to be the drawing point of many of the readers, as it is so engrossing to read about a fantasy world so unique to itself.
While the setting was certainly breathtaking, for me it ended up being the main thing that I enjoyed about the story. The plot itself keeps you guessing, as on multiple occasions what you think will be the main storyline will suddenly veer in a completely different directions. The characters are well fleshed out, and I am curious where their character arcs will take them. The pacing itself was well set for a trilogy, as everything just seemed to be beginning when we left off.
Overall, I enjoyed this book, and am curious to see where the story continues with the second book. Though fair warning to anyone who is not well-versed in the culture/gastronomy/architecture of the Middle East or any knowledge of Arabic... don't listen to the audiobook. You'll want to look up the terms!
