Blubber by Judy Blume
3.0
Another first: First Judy Blume book I’ve ever read. This book is pretty dark and I can see why it has hooked so many kids. It shows the torment of being the random kid that people decide to hate in a world where adults may not pick up on it or may not think it’s all that big of a deal. Parts are so appalling and frustrating - but I think also completely realistic. It shows that we don’t always learn from terrible mistakes or from things we’ve endured in an obvious way because navigating social settings in school is HARD. Great food for thought for kids and adults alike.
