Pleasantly surprised with this one.

The plot is exactly how the synopsis sells it. The Hating Game meets the Unhoneymooners. Graeme and Henley are competing for the same job. The plot is quite quick and easy to follow. Loved the twist in the end. I’ve read quite a few romcoms recently and this is one of the only ones that has thorough backstories to the protagonist and love interests. Their backstories and things that they’ve overcame really did it for me. Also, their attraction to each other aren’t just physical. They both have actual reasons to care for each other and might I say love.

Henley is a weird name. But her character is nothing special. Workaholic uptight woman who can’t take a break. But it’s done well. You feel her struggle and she values her job over most things. She actually works in this book unlike some other office romances.

Graeme is even weirder a name. I legit thought it’s pronounced as gray-me for 50 pages. Still do. Until found that it’s pronounced like Graham. His character is actually interesting. He has a story and not just a hot body. He’s also got a reason as to why he’s attracted to Henley. Most male love interests don’t show vulnerability. So, I appreciate that the author took time to do it. Also, one more note about him, he’s funny AND KIND!!! There are so many male love interests who aren’t kind and are straight up jerks simply because he’s the hard to get one or he’s the emotionless one.
