Metamaus: A Look Inside a Modern Classic, Maus [With CDROM] by Art Spiegelman

challenging dark informative reflective slow-paced

5.0

Skimmed it to get the godforsaken essay done and ended up being forcibly dragged into visceral reflection on my own trauma and mental processes
A physical copy is inevitable, as is a proper reread - for myself and not for fucking r*sanne
My thoughts on the book are obvs influenced heavily by my own experiences but that being said
- obvs super interesting content on the creation of maus
- fascinating and deeply relatable explorations (intentional and unintentional) of intergenerational trauma and also just regular trauma
- insights into spiegelman's formal/artistic choices, process, and inspiration which I found particularly interesting bc of my interest in comics as a form
