This was really interesting!
I'm very picky with my graphic novels, I don't like overly wholesome and I don't like overly gross or adulty comics. Paper Girls being a teen comic was probably exactly what I needed.
With a lot of action and uncertainty, I didn't feel bored at all. I thought it was a bit odd that the main characters were 12 (not every 12 year old behaves the way they did). I don't know exactly what the author had in mind, making them 12 y/os, because I kinda feel like this would slap with older MCs, but it's only book 1 so idk maybe it all comes together and I'll be wrong.
The illustrations were AMAZING. I love the colour scheme of some of the pages. It looks SO GOOD. I immediately borrowed vol 2 as an ebook, but I def won't be reading it on my colourless Kobo. GIVE ME PRETTY COLOURS YAYAYAYAY
