Mr. Masters by T.L. Swan
3.0

I am a little conflicted on my rating for this. Was it bad? No. Did I love it? Also no.

I actually thought this would be a DNF at the beginning. The way the interactions with the characters began was just ridiculous. Brielle snooping through Julian's things would have been a legitimate reason to fire her, especially when she dropped the ball every way she possibly could her first day as the nanny. Then to find out later that he was instantly attracted to her and after getting to know his personality, it makes absolutely no sense that he would have done something SO out of character and kept her as a nanny, even after being told she would lose her work visa. After her night out with her friend...definitely. So their "relationship" started out so unconventional and out of character for both that it just didn't make sense as it happened or as I got to know the characters better.

At first, I didn't like Brielle, but I think that was by design. I thought of her very much the same as I suppose Julian and Willow did. However, she grew on me once I got to know her better and I loved her by the end.

Julian. I love grumpy characters. I just didn't like Julian. Usually when a character has his personality, there is a reason for it. He just didn't seem to have one. He was stubborn to the point of sabotage both for himself and his family. When he refused to stand up for Willow he just never redeemed himself in my eyes.

This book was WAY longer than it needed to be but it wasn't boring. It definitely made me appreciate Brielle and how her relationship with the kids grew. How much those kids needed someone like Brielle to fight for them because their father would not have done it. The character growth in this book for Brielle is excellent, the book is titled Mr. Masters though and I probably would have liked it better without him.
