The Tea Gardens by Fiona McIntosh

4.0

I really enjoyed this read as a historical fiction romance.

The story was a cross of Call the Midwife cross Love Child which saw a 30 year old Doctor travel across to India to follow the footsteps of her deceased mother. Plans change when she meets Dr Saxon Vickery.

What captured me with this novel was the ease at which you slid in to the character's lives within British India. I really loved the setting and the trials that faced Isla. I felt that the tension was a little stale as you inevitably knew that her and Saxon would not end up together as it was revealed in the first chapter, I felt a little cheated by the non-linear story line and were just kind of waiting for someone to come along to threaten her engagement.

Definitely a read for those interested in medicine, history and romance ;)
