When Gone Country begins it feels like an enemy to lovers' romance but reality the animosity is one sided. The author brings the reader a fun story about 2 people who have had some misunderstandings but when they let their guard down are great together.
Jamie seems to be a bit of a hot head when she’s introduced. Making everything about her and what said people have done to her, especially Clayton. She wasn’t good enough to go on tour with him. She’s not a country artist. And the list goes on. So when she has to do an NYE event with him, which was originally supposed to be just her, she’s on a rampage.
But what she doesn’t realize is how that NYE event is going to change her life. She also doesn’t know the real reason Clayton didn’t take him on his tour 5 years ago. Maybe once she learns that she won’t continue to hide her feelings. However you’re going to have to read to find that out.
Clayton on the other hand is excited to be near and potentially work with Jamie. He feels bad that he was unable to take her on tour and wants to make things right. He also likes her. Which is also why he wants to be around her. So when he helps her finish her “drinking song” he suggests that they perform it at an open mic. An open mic performance that ends up going viral keeping them in each other’s paths.
Which irritates Jamie but puts Clayton on cloud nine.
Now that the studio wants them to work & tour together, how will that change their dynamic?
Will he explain why, after all these years?
Will she forgive him?
This story is fun and playful. A book that you will want to keep turning the page vs putting down.
I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I have! Happy reading!!
