Open Water by Caleb Azumah Nelson

adventurous dark relaxing medium-paced

The book dazzled me with its stunning poetic lines and its tenderness. The portrayal of love feels so special and unique and intimate. Sometimes the novel lacks the atmosphere that it creates and other times it is just so immersive, I just wanna live in that moment. The narrative did not exactly weave through me. It is just so hazy.

While I loved the beginning and all those art and pop-culture references, which was very informative, the book took a turn at its ending which did not sit well with me. It just felt so sudden and did not make sense to me. It lacks a proper ending which it tried to build. I loved the relationship between the characters. That is something special and full of warmth. But I keep getting distracted by the narrative of the book several times while reading.
