Walking Disaster
by Jamie McGuire
I was thrilled beyond belief when I learned through my favorite bookstore that "Walking Disaster" by the über talented [a:Jamie McGuire|4464118|Jamie McGuire|http://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1355507473p2/4464118.jpg] was being released in the Philippines two weeks earlier (March 21, 2013) than expected. ^.^ Thank goodness I already had the book reserved and, finally, after waiting four days since its release here, I was able to make the trip to the bookstore and pick up my paperback copy!
I loved being able to see the love story of lead characters Travis Maddox and Abby Abernathy through the former's eyes this time around. There have been a handful of books that I've read that have a chapter or two from the POV of the lead male character as part of the book (while there are other authors who offer this kind of POVs as free bonus material on their websites) but having an entire book in my hands was a new one for me.
Even though I was very familiar with the story of Travis and Abby (absolutely ADORED "[b:Beautiful Disaster|11505797|Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1)|Jamie McGuire|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1358259032s/11505797.jpg|16441531]"), "Walking Disaster" still came off as being fresh and kept my interest all throughout. Travis' vulnerability was in full view in certain parts of the book and made me love this character even more than I did in the first book. His relationships with Shepley, his brothers, and his father were also even more endearing.
Teared up a couple of times while reading the book and grinned like a fool in a lot of other scenes. All in all, "Walking Disaster" surpassed my expectations and solidifies my choice of Jamie McGuire as one of my favorite authors. Have read all her books so far and can't wait to see what else she has in store!!! ^.^

Spoiler
The epilogue in "Walking Disaster" tied the Mick Abernathy loose end as far as I was concerned. It took me a minute to actually imagine Travis and Abby more than a decade after their story began but it does present a nice perspective on their relationship.Teared up a couple of times while reading the book and grinned like a fool in a lot of other scenes.
