Whiskey Beach
by Nora Roberts
The story of Eli, a broken man finding himself again and building a new life, with the help of Abra, a complicated woman with issues of her own.
Eli had been accused of murdering his wife right after proceedings for their divorce had started, and his life imploded. He lost his job as a lawyer, most of his friends and his good name, and after sleepwalking through life for the past year, he is now in Whiskey Beach, where he is tasked with caring for his beloved grandmother's house while she is recovering from an injury.
There, he meets Abra, his grandmother's good friend and housekeeper, among other things, who intrigues Eli with her colorful lifestyle and nurturing nature that slowly draws him out of his shell and helps him get on the path to healing.
He is finally taking action in uncovering the truth about his wife's death and clearing his name, as well as solving the mystery surrounding his grandmother's house with the long history that involves scandal and pirate treasure.
The two end up falling in love, and help each other become better people, with.
It takes him a while and some clever thinking, but Eli eventually discovers that.
A complicated story with a happy ending, but not one of my favorites by the author.
