A Kingdom of Nomads by S.B. Nova

I'm torn.
I really like Serena's story, and there are lots of great parts, but there were just as many "wait...what?" and "uhh, how convenient." moments.

I love Liora and Cai. Their banter is one of my favorite things in this book. But it didn't save me from feeling like it was a little too long, and the fact that I feel like there are quite a few things that feel like they were ripped from SJM's books.
More than one quote had me stopping and saying "uhh really?" Because it was pulled from a SJM story. Not to mention, and let's be real here. Her mate is a huge thunder and lightning wielding, winged, super old warrior? COUGH HUNTATHALAR COUGH.

And then at the end her aunts help her with more power just like Sandrine did at the end of the first book. It just felt a little like there could have been more there.

It pulled me away from the story and to be honest, I was kind of powering through the second half because I just wanted to know what happened. With the pacing, I see here that we will have a few more books, which I'm cool with, but agh. I needed a little more oomph that I just feel like wasn't quite there.

All that said, Danu is the best and is my new favorite character.

Three stars, I liked it... it wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't a home run for me.
