Contrarily to my original expectations, the plot was quite engaging. The characters were developed adequately to their importance in n the novel and each of them was significant to the story in some way. I really admire that Pushkin went through the efforts of writing a novel to express his sympathies to the uprising peasants of his time, in spite of it being forbidden. However, I think that his message was so well hidden in the book, that I didn't even notice it before doing some research.
