inniss 's review for:
The Collected Stories of Lydia Davis
by Lydia Davis
I only got about a quarter of the way through. Not a criticism. You can't really say she doesn't write beautifully--not even beautifully but sensitively, she's cleaely very sensitive to the human condition, frailties and foibles. Which ordinarily I love, I just honestly didn't notice this was short stories.
Writing reminded me a little of Alice Munro or even Eileen Myles, both of whom I like a lot. Davis was recommended to me by a friend I respect a lot and I think another time I'll try this book again.
