Night Shift by Stephen King

4.0

Hard to give a collection an appropriate rating. I think this works. I also think it's fairly easy to tell that this is pretty early King. It seems like he's still refining some things, or was when he wrote the collection. The stories are enthralling and suspenseful with a couple of standouts. I think it's difficult to appreciate them as much in 2020, because it's difficult to view certain stories in the lens of their true originality because so much of King's work has been borrowed by others. The last story, "The Woman in the Room," was definitely the most forceful for me. It may be a sign that I'm not as much of a fan of gruesome or monster horror, but it was my favorite of the collection.
