I would give this book 3.5 stars rounded up. The pacing of the book was a bit off, and there were parts that slowly dragged by. HOWEVER, the end was really great, and I loved the found family dynamic of the book. I especially love how queer normative the story is, as well as the diverse characters (a deaf character, an amputee, and racially diverse characters). And, I think (and hope) this may be a scenario where the sequel is more action-packed than the first book, as everything seems to be well set up for that. Overall, a great debut novel, and I’m excited for the sequel. I love Kissen’s little grumpy heart, and I can’t wait to see the hell she rains down in the next book.
