Spark of the Everflame by Penn Cole

The premise of this book definitely intrigued me! It was fast paced, yet also slow?

It felt fast paced in the sense that I always wanted to know what happened next and had a burning curiosity to keep reading and read through it quickly, but the actual pacing of the plot and the character relationships (I’m looking at you Diem and Luther)/interactions felt very drawn out and slow.

It think what I enjoyed most about it, was how contradictory everything felt and how it gave just enough information to keep me hooked without being too little so I was bored or too much that I could even guess what was going to happen.

I felt very tied into Diem’s opinions/perceptions of people and felt her conflicting feelings/thoughts towards the world and enjoyed seeing her start to really attempt to understand the the people and events surrounding her.

I’m very interested in the magic and politics of the world and will definitely be continuing the series! (As if I really needed a new one to add to my TBR though
