A vast improvement upon the first installment! I really enjoyed myself reading it. I do have to say I’m wholly disinterested in the dynamic between Scarlett and Sorin. I also find them both individually just not it. She mouths off like an angsty teenager (don’t get me started on the snarky one-liners, fortunately there were just a few in comparison to book one!) and he stomps off like a toddler. I’m here for the plot and the side characters. The world is not that original but I’m still intrigued to find out where the similarities to ToG/ACOTAR will cease. It’s a fun time and if you’re looking for that, it’ll provide. And oh my godddd, that twist at the very end! Whoa. Nice one. I’m also pretty sure these books improve as the author was writing them so I’m here for the ride.
