I'm Glad My Mom Died
by Jennette McCurdy
challenging
dark
emotional
funny
reflective
sad
fast-paced
Finishing this, it’s so clear to see why this has been such a hit. Jennette does an amazing job writing about her very emotionally devastating and dark life events with a measure of levity without obscuring how bad the events truly were. It’s easy to eat up a good chunk of the book the way the narrative grips you in. I felt engaged through and through and would absolutely recommend anyone who’s never really read memoirs before (like me!).
