The book focuses on exclusively young activists in the middle 21st century, where our present day young adults have become the "boomers" of their generation. Like our boomers, these older people subbornly and violently hold on to the ideas of the past. This creates conflict in a time where the youth will already have so much to deal with.

The pacing and writing of some of the more intense scenes was quite good. I enjoyed the variety of environmental threats the characters had to combat or deal with in addition to the political one.

The attempt at a realistic portrayal of social progress and environmental instability was commendable and interesting. Worldbuilding was generally excellent here.

The characters lacked for depth a little bit outside of the main POV. It seemed like they were just mouthpieces for the author's ideology and democratic socialist vision. That's not to say I don't find plenty of that agreeable, it's just that the dialogue is not very organic.

I think this is a solid book for those interested in political/climate books like Kim Stanley Robinson's "Ministry For The Future"
