This book's premise seemed admittedly pretty interesting, and a new twist on the concept of time-traveling. Time traveling by bringing various real historical figures into modern-day England, and testing whether they would adapt? Neat! Did it deliver like I wanted it to? Not really.

The exploration of racism from the historical figures and dated viewpoints seemed intriguing at first, but I wish there were more complexity and exploration of that topic, rather than covering it in passing. In my opinion, there were a lot of interesting ideas that just never got fully fleshed out, which is a bummer. I was waiting for them to kick into action towards the last part of the book. The romance subplot was also not my favorite, as it felt kinda underdeveloped and just felt weird to have a romance plot with a real person from history.

I felt myself wanting to learn more about the historical aspect of the book, which surprised me because I usually don't lean into liking history. I would enjoy diving more into the time travel/sci-fi part of the book, especially due to the way the ending twisted into more science fiction rather than focused on the historical side. Not my favorite read, but still an interesting one.
