The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole
4.0
I wasn’t expecting to like this book that much but I really loved the first half of the story, it was unexpectedly really funny and addictive, with a lot of twists and turns and great suspense ; even if the second half lowered my overall opinion (way too much toxic parents who try to marry their daughters to men twice older than them just to gain more power, and a really disappointing ending) it is a gothic tale that I really appreciated discovering and I’m definitely proud of having managed to read it in that 18th century’s old English! A perfect book for autumn, with a dark castle, knights, old prophecies, ghosts and skeletons, and a lot of tragic events
