The humor, pacing, and utter imagination in this story are like the very best of Diana Wynne Jones and Roald Dahl. The plot isn't perfect, but my pure enjoyment of the tale makes this an easy 5. And with her zany voices and highly charismatic narration, Angela Thorne's audio reading made this book a truly laugh-out-loud experience. Just splendid.
