The Next Ship Home: A Novel of Ellis Island by Heather Webb

3.0

This was a beautifully written story following to young women in New York during the early 1900s. One character is a young immigrant fighting to escape her oppressive home in Italy. The other character is a young German girl trying to find her path in life. The two characters connect on Ellis Island where the German girl is working and the Italian girl is fighting to get passage into America. Overall I think it was a nicely written story, but it was easily predictable and did not keep me on the edge of my seat on what would happen next.
