Fantastic Four: Life Story by Mark Russell
2.0
Clearly written by someone without an invested interest in the Fantastic Four! I wanted to like this badly, I really did. Spider-Man man Life Story is arguably one of my favorite Spider-Man stories. With a character as deep as Fantastic Four, I hoped it would get a similar treatment, but nope! With its vast history of characters, you can rest assured that only one of the kids is here, and it's only Galactus and Doom as antagonist! Love the tone and optimism of the F4 as a team, this reads more as a tragedy! I get it, I understand what was attempted here, and it almost works at points. It doesn't work as a celebration of the F4 and its history, only working as a low-quality highlight reel at best. It doesn't work as a tragedy, as it pulls a plot point out of nowhere to make you feel good. It just doesn't work.
