timetravelerslibrary 's review for:
Bird Box
by Josh Malerman
There ARE a few trigger warnings, the most important being descriptions of violent suicides, but also childbirth and the death of a dog. Proceed with caution if these are your triggers, and please stay safe! Now, on to the review
Pardon my French, but HOLY SHIT! This book exceeded my expectations by far, and I’m pleased to award it a happy 5/5! I recently watched the movie based off this book (which was ALSO fantastic, I must add), and I just HAD to see how the book stacked up, and boy did it!
Malerman has somehow mastered the art that is a good suspenseful thriller, the kind that sets his readers hearts beating fast and makes them truly fear for the characters. The fine line between detail and over-sharing is hard to tread as an author, but Malerman seemed to have conquered that particular hurdle as well, delivering a story that felt almost too real at times, making me close my eyes or want to cover the windows with blankets to keep out the creatures.
