Moby-Dick: Or, the Whale
by Herman Melville
A book about a whale, yes, but also about so much more: the systems we use to classify, and their limitations; how we live and interact within communities; the complexity of human nature; the wonders of the planet. I read this book slowly, a few pages at a time over months, savoring the language. I also recommend Matt Kish's illustrations which added a layer of depth to my understanding of the book.
