i thought this book started out really well but somewhere in the middle i no longer felt particularly excited about picking it up to read. every character in this book is kind of a horrible person, but moshfegh does a pretty good job of humanizing them. they have their own problems and sometimes you feel sympathetic towards their struggles. i'm glad the main character was interesting enough to carry the entire book given that this doesn't really have a plot. a pretty decent read, but not the craziest page-turner. overall, i was pretty content with what i had read.
